The Hamilton housing market continues to strengthen in part due to internal migration.  People are moving to the Waikato from Auckland for a variety of reasons, getting away from Covid lockdowns obviously, but also because house prices in the region are still a lot more affordable than in Auckland.

In the past a lack of well paying jobs in the Waikato may have hindered some people from moving there, but not anymore.  Many Waikato business are expanding and looking for staff, and not just agriculture businesses.  High-tech businesses like Gallagher’s, once know for electric fencing, now has a raft of technology businesses within it’s group, one of which is providing perimeter security for Tesla factories world wide.  With an R&D team of over 100 skilled staff and more needed, this is just one of many companies in Hamilton offering well paying jobs to skilled people looking to move to Hamilton.
